Do you want to feel the adventure without leaving your home? The best travel and adventure movies!

Are you between holidays, the windows are gray and uninteresting, but you feel like traveling and adventure? If it is currently impossible, you can always try to move to unknown places with the help of an interesting film watched from the couch in your living room. That is why we decided to prepare 10 travel movies worth watching when real adventure is not possible.

Into The Wild

It’s a 2007 movie directed by Sean Penn. The film is based on a novel by Jon Krakauer of the same title. The film was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Oscar. In the film we will get to know the story of Chris McCandless (played by Emile Hirsch), who, right after graduation, decided to sell all her belongings and donate her savings to charity. Then he hitchhiked to Alaska. He started living there, away from people and built up. His journey lasted one and a half years, which we observe on the screen. The plot of the film was based on facts.

Seven years in Tibet

Another true story. Seven Years in Tibet is a 1997 biopic based on a book by Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer. The movie begins when Heinrich (played by Brad Pitt) leaves his family and goes to the Himalayas. The entire film is a record of his adventures, his stay in a prisoner-of-war camp, time spent in Tibet and getting to know the Dalai Lama himself.

Everest

Another film with an action set in the Himalayas based on real events. The action of the film takes place in 1996, when a group of mountaineers try to reach Mount Everest – the highest mountain in the world. During the expedition, the weather changes and the climbers are in grave danger.

Cast away

This is an American movie from 2000 with Tom Hanks in the lead role. The film tells about the plane crash in which the main character flew, as a result of which he lands on a desert island. During the film, we follow his adventures, struggle for survival and emotional challenges faced by a man left in long-term loneliness.

Uncharted

A less serious and much more adventurous production with Tomek Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the lead roles. The film is based on the plot of computer games. Two treasure hunters are trying to find Ferdinand Magellan’s treasure. Along the way, they have to solve a number of puzzles, as well as race with dangerous people sent by the ruthless Moncada.

Forest Gump

Another movie with Tom Hanks in the lead role. The title character is Forest Gump – a man with a mild form of autism, whom we follow throughout his life. The unique character of the hero, as well as his original approach to life, throws him into a whirlwind of very strange coincidences, adventures and interesting characters that he meets on his way (including the US president, artists and other famous characters).

Interstellar

When it comes to adventure and travel, we shouldn’t set any boundaries. Therefore, we are not afraid of space and time travel. Interstellar is a science-fiction film directed by Christopher Nolan, the main character of which sets off on a dangerous journey into space to find a new home for the entire race.

UP

Sometimes, however, it is worth spending time with something much less serious. That is why we recommend everyone the animated film Departure from Pixar, in which a shy boy and his senior neighbor set off on a crazy journey. Their means of transport is the old man’s house, which is lifted into the air with the help of hundreds of balloons attached to it.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

The first part of the adaptation of Tolkien’s books, which tells the story of nine companions traveling through Middle-earth on a mission to save the world. A movie full of great effects, landscapes and characters from different fantastic races. We may not be able to visit Middle-earth, but New Zealand, where the film was recorded, is fine.

127 HOURS

This is a biopic in which Aron Ralston (James Franco) is trapped by a boulder during a Robbers Roost bike tour in Canyonlands National Park. We observe the main character’s struggle for survival, which lasted over five days in a remote area without being able to move around.
